Well, we won our first trophy, the Daihatsu Challenge Special Award at the Kerridge Club Rally in Wales last Saturday.

Mark Taylor, Daihatsu Challenge co-ordinator said, "Their sheer determination and grit was outstanding. That's what rallying is all about.

We had a traumatic start to the fifth round of the Daihatsu Challenge. We were going extremely well until we hit a bump on a narrow track. We skidded onto two wheels and the car rolled over into a deep ditch. Unfortunately this was just thirty seconds into Sweet Lamb, the first stage of the rally.

This cost us about a minute before we were back on our wheels. We'd lost some glass and clouds of dust were bellowing in. Mike had to dust off his pace notes.

Mike was still calling the notes as we were going upside down. Being suspended by my seatbelt was an interesting experience.

Our stage times were excellent and Mike and I were working closer than ever. We covered over eighty miles and rolled on only ten yards. The support from Gary, Stephen and Rick was great. Using the radios to good effect meant they were prepared in advance after out scrape.

It's unfortunate we had to retire after completing three quarters of the rally. We didn't retire. The car did.

Our next outing is round six of the Daihatsu Challenge, the Enterprise in Swansea, South Wales on July 17th.

Hoping for a dry Summer
